Over the past decade or so, we've seen a massive proliferation of new direct-to-consumer furniture brands flood the market as consumers have gotten comfortable with doing what was considered unthinkable not too long ago: buying furniture online. And while many of these DTC furniture brands tend to run together, a few have stood out from the crowd. One of the most prominent — and most successful — is Article.

The Vancouver-based brand debuted in 2013 and has wasted no time in becoming an online favorite, thanks to its large catalog of modern designs, its focus on using quality materials and above-average build quality and its relatively affordable prices. Pretty much everything Article makes just looks good, and the fact that it's built to last and isn't overpriced is just icing on the cake. But Article sells a ton of different items, with its catalog considerably larger than those of other DTC furniture brands of a similar age and style like Floyd and Burrow. So if you're thinking of shopping at Article but aren't sure where to start, here are 15 pieces to consider.

One of the bestselling pieces of furniture Article makes, the Sven Sofa is probably what you picture when you think of a mid-century modern couch: clean lines, solid wood peg legs, round bolster pillows and a single tufted seat cushion all add up to a design that looks great in any space. This comfy couch is also available in a ton of upholstery options, from fabric to leather to even velvet.

This ottoman — or pouf, if you're feeling fancy — gives you options. Want a footrest for your couch or lounge chair? Done. Need a spot to set down a cup of coffee and a remote control? Boom, makeshift TV tray. Need extra seating when guests come over? Meet the new best seat in the house. The Cilo is a versatile and stylish piece with a solid wood frame (yep, in an ottoman) and a cushioned top.

This low-slung console has everything a good TV stand should. It has a stylish yet low-key design that looks great yet won't draw too much attention to itself, it has open shelving to make your remote control happy along with two cabinets for storage, it's got an opening in the back for cord management and finally, its solid wood construction means it can easily support your 4K screen.

Look, we all love the classic mid-century lounge chairs like the Eames Lounge and the Womb Chair, but we don't all have ten grand to drop on one. So why not go for an affordable modern classic like Article's Gabriola? Its Scandi style blends organic curves, solid wood legs and bouclé fabric in a timeless combination that looks as cozy as it sits — all for 500 bucks.

Who'd have thought a skinny, water-loving bird would provide the design inspiration and namesake for such a stylish lamp? The Heron floor lamp brings elegance and grace to your space thanks to its angled steel body and cantilevered shade. Best of all, the base of this lamp is crafted from solid marble, which not only means the lamp will stay put wherever you place it, but also that every lamp is unique thanks to variations in the material's veining.

Finding a stylish spot in your living to conveniently store things like blankets or your kids' toys can sometimes seem like an impossibility, but the Bocana makes it look easy. Far from your average storage basket, the Bocana is made with a mix of natural rattan cane and oak veneer, giving it a beautiful, airy look. What's more, the lid is solid oak and flat on top, meaning this storage basket doubles as a side table.

I searched high and low for a bed frame that would suit my needs before settling on the Basi, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. This minimalist slatted bed frame looks simply incredible thanks to its floating design, but what impressed me most is its construction. This bed is solid as a rock. It has never once squeaked, creaked or sagged, and honestly might be the biggest bargain of a bed anywhere.

Does your nightstand have to look this good? Maybe not, but I'm of the opinion that if something can be beautiful, why shouldn't it be? The Lenia is gorgeous with its grained veneer exterior (three finishes are available), peg legs and sweeping drawer handles, and it's also practical, offering up two soft-close drawers along with an open shelf. And if you need more bedroom storage, it also comes as a dresser.

Part of Article's retro-cool The '70s Edit collection of 1970s-inspired outdoor furniture, the Sterna Planter makes for one snazzy home for your potted pals. Its hourglass design features striations on top for added pizazz, and it's made from glazed concrete for a showstopping and high-quality look. It also comes with a plug for the drainage hole, meaning you can take the show indoors during the winter.

Another piece from The '70s Edit, the Kera coffee table is one of the most original designs in Article's entire catalog. Constructed fully of ceramic tiles over a steel frame, the table brings a dash of fun-loving poolside style to wherever it's placed. Its legs are also rotatable and are curved on one side and squared off on the other, allowing you to change up its look as you desire. Oh, and you can use it both indoors and out.

In case you haven't heard, outdoor furniture is cool now, and Article is helping to lead the revolution with pieces like the Lubek sectional set. An L-shaped sectional flanked by chaise lounges on either side and ample weather-resistant cushions in between, this industrial-style beauty is made from solid acacia wood and sits on low-profile, boxy powder-coated steel legs. The set even includes a matching coffee table, giving you an entire outdoor living room in one gorgeous fell swoop.

Despite sharing a name with a comedy legend, I wouldn't describe the Conan tables as particularly funny — but it's definitely stylish. The sculptural, boomerang-like solid wood legs make this a standout MCM-inspired showpiece for your dining room, while the sunburst pattern of the wood veneer top is sure to put a smile on your face during mealtime. Hey, maybe that's why it's named Conan.

You'll need a place to sit at dinner, and Article's modern-classic Svelti chairs are just the ticket. Simple in design and construction, featuring a UV-resistant molded plastic seat atop powder-coated steel legs, these chairs are both modern and timeless. They're suitable for indoor and outdoor use and come in nine monochromatic colors, including such striking options as Coastal Coral, Aloe Green and Berry Blue.

Article has plenty of rugs, catering to tastes that lean both conservative and eclectic. The Bovi falls somewhere in the middle, which is probably why I like it so much. It has a subtle diamond pattern that is as interesting as you want it to be: From a distance, it blends in with its surroundings, but up close, its pattern is fascinating in its own right. The 8 x 10-foot wool-blend rug is soft and durable and is available in three colors.

A great-looking desk can leave you inspired while working or pursuing creative endeavors, and the Krossa is a stone-cold stunner. Made from walnut and looking like it was purchased during a fire sale at Sterling Cooper's offices, this writing desk is full of visual interest while remaining well-made and practical, boasting a pair of soft-close drawers and a nearly five-foot-wide desktop.
